Maria Espinosa

MINNEAPOLIS – Maria Ann Fedelia Espinosa, 35, made her journey to the Spirit World on Thursday, August 31, 2017 in Minneapolis.

Maria Espinosa was born on February 18, 1982 in Pine Ridge to Adam and Ina (Sounding Side) Espinosa.

Maria is survived by her mother, Ina Espinosa of Oglala; daughter, Aidin Pond and son, Kal-el Pond, both of Pine Ridge; brothers, Shawn (Maretta) Espinosa of Oglala, Shayne (Cecelia) and Adam (Heidi) Espinosa, Jr., both of Rapid City, Juan “John” (Avril) Espinosa of Pine Ridge and Kina Brings Plenty of Riverside, Calif; sisters, Carley (Benjamin Pipe On Head) Espinosa of Rapid City and Lorelei Espinosa of Phoenix, Ariz.; special friend, Joe Fowler of Minneapolis; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, work acquaintances, friends and relatives.

Maria was preceded in death by her father, Adam Espinosa, Sr.; daughters, Harley and Tristian Gnagey; brothers, Brent Sounding Side and Christin Espinosa; sister, Sissy Espinosa; uncles, Leon Long Soldier, Allan Long Soldier, Elton Long Soldier, Pete Blacksmith, Jr. and Robert Blacksmith; aunts, Verlene Long Soldier and Eldene Blacksmith; cousins, Clayton Warrior and Alvin Iron Cloud III; grandparents, Phillip Sounding Side and Louise Blacksmith; and great-grandparents, John and Edna Blacksmith.

A one night wake service started on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala. Funeral services were held on Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Brother Rene Hall with Pastor Elton Yellow Boy and Mr. Wayne Flood officiating. Burial service was held at the Espinosa Family Cemetery in Oglala.
