Hello NFL fans we are down to just two games left of the regular season. “Commander Timmy, do you have your scores and updates handy?” inquired the Captain. Aye sir, it is rare to watch games on Saturdays. In Detroit, the Lions remain in the playoff hunt improving to (8-6) defeating the (4-10) Chicago Bears 20-10. It was Lions QB Matt Stafford to the rescue tossing for 237 yards and two scores in the win. Bears rookie QB Mitch Trubisky completed 314 yards of passes and a score in the loss.

It was a battle for the AFC Divisional lead with the (8-6) Chiefs routing the (7-7) Chargers 30-13. Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt kept the ball on ground gaining 156 yards and a score. A lock for the first pick of the 2018 NFL Draft are the (0-14) Cleveland Browns who dropped 27-10 to the (8-6) Baltimore Ravens. Ravens QB Joe Flacco didn’t take any flack from the Browns defense tossing for 288 yards and a score.

Two teams ending up with the same record are the (6-8) Arizona Cardinals who dropped to Washington 20-15. Washington’s defense played well but it was the offensive talents of QB Kirk Cousins who scored twice with 196 yards passing in the win. “It was great to see the return of Packers QB Aaron Rogers,” stated our guru Timmy. His passes were falling short initially as he tried to work his shoulders out but the Packers (7-7) would fall 24-31 to the (10-4) Carolina Panthers 24-31. Panthers QB Cam Newton had his main target TE Greg Olsen back and it showed as he completed 242 yards of passing along with four touchdowns. Olsen had a great day with 116 yards of receptions and a score.

“Well at least you got your quarterback back action Commander, I will continue” stated the Captain. They are flying like Eagles again in Philadelphia as the Eagles (12-2) continue to roll under the backup QB Nick Foles. He took to the skies tossing for 237 yards and four scores to defeat the (2-12) New York Giants 34-29. Giants QB Eli Manning returned to the starting position with a big day himself tossing for a whopping 434 yards and three scores in a losing effort.

Back on the winning track and still in the playoff hunt are the (8-6) Buffalo Bills who defeated the (6- 8) Miami Dolphins 24-16. A real hope to host the Super Bowl as the (11-3) Minnesota Vikings as they handily defeat the (5-9) Cincinnati Bengals 34-7. Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon was featured on the ground in this game as he turned received hauling in 114 yards on just seven receptions in the win. Broncos QB Brock Osweiler replaced Trevor Siemien as he injured his left shoulder on a play. Osweiler ignited the offense running and diving on an 18-yard score. Coupled by a 54-yard touchdown pass to TE Jeff Heirmann to seal the deal for the Broncos. Osweiler finished the outing 229 yards and three scores. “Can you say domination?” jeered the Captain.

As the (10-4) Los Angeles Rams forged ahead routing the (8-6) Seattle Seahawks 42-7. It was the Todd Gurley show for the Rams as he was the star rumbling for 152 yards and three touchdowns. Noone expected the Rams to succeed like this especially the paly of Rams QB Jared Goff who simply “took off” this season. Along with the new addition to defensive coordinator Wade Phillips.

Two of the league’s best teams matched up this week as the (11- 3) New England Patriots escaped the (11-3) Pittsburgh Steelers 27- 24. “This game was a preview of the upcoming AFC Championship Game this season,” stated the Captain. Brady was steady tossing for 298 yards and a score in the win. Steelers QB Ben Roethlisburger had a great day as well completing 281 yards and two scores in the loss.

Speaking of losses the Steelers lost WR Antonio Brown suffered a calf sprain/tear and may miss some weeks of the latter part of the season. Can you say Garoppolo? That is the name being thrown around in San Francisco as the Forty Niners win their third straight improving to (4-10) by defeating the (8-6) Tennessee Titans 25-23. Niners QB Jimmy Garoppolo is making a name for himself by completing a whopping 381 yards and a score in the win. Oakland’s playoff hopes slipped away as the Raiders drop to (6-8) with a 20-17 loss to the (8- 6) Dallas Cowboys 20-17.
