Allen W. Blacksmith Sr.
LOWER BRULE – Allen W. Blacksmith Sr., of Lower Brule, was born on January 2, 1961 to Grace (Dewitt) and Joseph Blacksmith in Chamberlain, SD. Allen journeyed to the Spirit World on July 23, 2021
Allen went to school in Lower Brule, SD. He participated in sports such as football, basketball, wrestling, and rodeo club. His passion was fishing.
Allen married Carmen Harrison on March 26, 2000.
Allen enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Jordon Elliot, and his cats E, B, T, and Fooders. He was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys. He also played pool and darts. Allen enjoyed watching his western TV shows and rodeo competitions.
Allen was a hard worker. He worked for Gourneau Construction, as an EMT, with security at the Golden Buffalo Casino, and as a custodian at the Lower Brule Hight School, Elementary School and Head Start. He traveled to different states for construction jobs.
Allen leaves behind five children Allen “Al” Blacksmith Jr. of Aberdeen, SD, Joseph Claymore “JC” of Colorado, Sarah Boyd of Rapid City, SD, Joey Blacksmith of Sioux Falls, SD, and Alise Harrison of Lower Brule, SD, four sisters Deliah Leckey, Patti Atkinson, Ila Moldenhauer, and Wanda Peacock, one brother Joe Blacksmith, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents Grace (Dewitt) Blacksmith and Joseph Blacksmith; one brother Ronnie Blacksmith; Billy Joe Hendershot, Pamela Hendershot, Cory Allen LaCroix, and Ronnie Jean LaCroix.
Funeral services for Allen W. Blacksmith Sr., 60, of Lower Brule, will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2021 at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD. Burial will follow at the Holy Comforter Episcopal Cemetery, Lower Brule, SD. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD.
