City seeks applicants for Historic Preservation Commission



 

 

RAPID CITY –– The City is seeking qualified residents to serve on the Historic Preservation Commission. Application deadline is Friday, Sept. 2, 2016.

The City would like to encourage citizens with an interest in historic preservation who could represent the Downtown Historic District stakeholders, the West Boulevard Historic District stakeholders, and/or industry professionals to apply to serve on the Historic Preservation Commission. Industry professionals should have demonstrated education and experience in the fields of history, architectural history, architecture, planning, urban planning, historic preservation, archaeology, American studies, American civilization, cultural geography, cultural anthropology, law or construction.

Rapid City residents interested in serving on the Historic Preservation Commission should first submit a citizen interest application which can be found on the City’s website. Qualified applicants will be asked to submit a Historic Preservation Commission Appointment application which can be obtained by contacting Sarah Hanzel in the Department of Community Planning and Development Services at Sarah.Hanzel@rcgov.org.

All appointments are made by the mayor and require city council confirmation. More information can be obtained by calling the Community Planning and Development Services Department at (605) 394-4120.
