Dakota Shay Reyes-Bibian (Old Horse)


RAPID CITY – Dakota Shay Reyes-Bibian (Old Horse), 35, journeyed to the Spirit World on Friday, July 13, 2020 at the Woyatan Lutheran Church in Rapid City.

Dakota was born March 23, 1985 in Kearney, Neb., to Carmel M Old Horse of Kyle and Julio Reyes-Bibian.

She received her education from Little Wound High School where she excelled in cheerleading and graduated from Little Wound High School with the class of 2004.

Those who knew Dakota can attest to her heart of gold; she would light up a room with her beautiful smile, beautiful brown eyes and had a selfless soul. She loved spending time with her family, kids and friends. She always looked forward to her kid’s activities and she enjoyed living life to the fullest. Dakota was an active member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe.

Dakota leaves to celebrate her life; her parents, Carmel M Old Horse of Kyle and Julio Reyes-Bibian. Dakota is the mother of 4 young children, Landon Jon, Kristina Reign, MaryShae Marcine and Samuel August Cryer Yellow Hawk. Her brother’s Jonathan, Shawnee Old Horse of Rapid City and Scotty Old Horse of Kyle; Her sister’s, Cheyenne White Elk of Sioux Falls; Mert Grosz-Garnette, Tease Old Horse of Kyle; Lakotawin Old Horse of Allen; Her grandparents, Gracia and Augustine Reyes-Bibian of Michoacan Mexico and Ralph Jr and Emma Old Horse-White Elk of Kyle; as well as numerous cousins, extended family and many, many friends.

Pallbearers were William Quick Bear, Buck Tallman, Sonny Old Horse, Verlin Old Horse, Baby Jon Old Horse, Shawnee Old Horse, Angel Old Horse, and Gary Garnette, Sr.

Honorary pallbearers were Christy, Ken and Noreen Lone Elk & family, Mary Jo and Bernadine Red Bear & Family, Jessica Heart, Hunka Father-Roger Bird, and All Friends & Relatives.

Visitation and Funeral services were held on Friday, July 31, 2020 at the Powwow Grounds in Kyle, with Minister Jonathan Old Horse officiating. Traditional Lakota services were held with Mr. Merle Left Hand Bull. Burial was at the Yellow Hawk-Broken Rope Family Cemetery, No Flesh Community in Kyle.
