WOUNDED KNEE – Daniel Darice Hollow Horn, 25, “Wambli Oyakpa” (Golden Eagle), 25, journeyed to the Spirit World on Monday, August 10, 2020 at his home in Wounded Knee.
Daniel Darice Hollow Horn was born on October 6, 1994 in Pine Ridge to Michael Spotted Bear and Trina Hollow Horn-Williams.
Daniel is survived by his mother, Trina Williams; father, Michael Spotted Bear; daughter, Maleka St. John; siblings, Darilyn (John) King, Delonna Williams and Annaliese Williams.
Daniel was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold Hollow Horn, Sr., Hobart Spotted Bear, Carol Red Star, Martin Black Tail Deer, Joan Buckman and Rose Spotted Bear; great grandparents, Howard Wounded Horse, Hazel Hatchett-Cutt, Lucinda Cutt-Crazy Horse and Esther Little Commander; uncle, Adrian Hollow Horn; aunt, Anita Whirlwind Horse; and step-father, David Williams.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Hollow Horn, Trevor Hollow Horn, Eric Hollow Horn, Darren Hollow Horn, Beau Black Crow, Lyndon Hollow Horn, Byron White Dress, Alton Black Tail Deer, Jr., Alfonso Pawnee Leggins and Daniel Pawnee Leggins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Pawnee Leggins Family, Driving Hawk Family, St. John Family, Williams Family, Blaine Family, Mesteth Family, Black Crow Family, Grey Grass Family, Yellow Hair Family, Medicine Family, Ghost Family, Black Bear Family, Takes War Bonnett Family, Jealous of Him Family, Little Moon Family, Rowland Family, Brown Bull Family, Johnson Family, Boltz Family, Spotted Bear Family, Hollow Horn Family, Yellow Horse Family, Poor Bear Family, Elk Family, High Hawk Family, Buckman Family, Shott Family, Iron Cloud Family, Apple Family, Eagle Bull Family, Little Wound Mustangs, Lone Star Black Jack Dealers, and All Friends and Relatives.
A one night wake service started on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at the Messiah Episcopal Church in Wounded Knee. Funeral services were held on Monday, August 17, 2020 at the Messiah Episcopal Church, with the Reverend Harold Eagle Bull officiating. Traditional Lakota services were held with Mr. Rick Grey Grass. Burial was at the Messiah Episcopal Cemetery in Wounded Knee.
