KYLE – Daniel Thomas Martinez, 37, journeyed to the Spirit World on Monday, June 15, 2020 near Kyle.

Daniel T. Martinez was born on February 5, 1983 in Pine Ridge to Molbay A. Martinez and Mary (Red Feather) Martinez.

Daniel is survived by his parents, Molbay and Mary Martinez; siblings, Walter, Antoine, Flint, Molbay, Danette, Melissa, Loretta, Julia, Sharon, Ellen and Marilou Martinez; goddaughter, Ally Martinez; godson, Antowain Janis; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Daniel was preceded in death by his sister, Mary L. Martinez; grandparents, Walter & Edith Martinez, and Flint & Katherine (Janis) Red Feather; aunts, Shirley Red Feather, Annabelle Picket Pin and Vienna Red Feather; uncles, Walter and Daniel Martinez and Kenneth Red Feather; nieces, Angel S. Quick Bear, Raelee and Margo Martinez; and nephews, Isaiah Quick Bear, Thomas Danny Mesteth and Sydney Mesteth.

Pallbearers were Austin “Docy” Watkins, Jr., Conan Janis, Antowain Janis, Laney Martinez, Walt “Pepper” Martinez, Marty Martinez, Kallen Carpio, Daniel Keszler, Louis Martinez, Eddie Quick Bear and Keith Martinez.

A two night wake service started on Monday, June 22, 2020 at the Martinez Residence near Kyle. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at the Martinez Residence, with Fr. Ron Seminara, S.J. and Reverend John Bush officiating. Traditional Lakota services were held with Mr. John Red Feather and Mr. Quincy Red Feather. Burial was at the Ranch Family Cemetery near Kyle.
