RAPID CITY – Delores “Dee” O. Torres Sletten, 76, made her journey to the Spirit World on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at her home in Rapid Valley.
It’s exactly where she was the happiest. At her side till the end was her loving husband, Doug Sletten, sons; Al and Rob, granddaughter Kayla, and great-granddaughter Averi.
Dee was born on December 24, 1942, in Rapid City; she was a Christmas child.
She was raised here with her two brothers; Richard “Sonny” Torres, and Andres “Buzzy” Torres, and her two sisters; Joann Torres Ortega and Jeanie Torres Martinez. Jeanie passed away in 2015.
Dee loved to tap dance when she was young, and loved all types of music. As she got older, she loved to sing and Karaoke with friends and family. Dee also had two green thumbs. She grew house plants all year long in her home, and flowers and a veggie garden in the spring time. She loved to decorate her home as well as others.
She was true to her marriage, a loving and caring mother to her sons, her granddaughter, and great-granddaughter; whom she was very proud of. She loved her step children; Sheila, Kim, and Ross, and treated them like they were her own. Her nephews and nieces also held a special place in her heart. In general, she loved everyone in her family. If you were her friend, she had your back.
All who knew her, knew that she was a no-nonsense kind of person. She would tell you the truth, even if it hurt. She only wanted the best life for the ones she loved.
Dee will be missed very much by all who knew her and loved her.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday February 5, 2019 at the Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City. Inurnment was at the Black Hills National Cemetery.
