Rains on Saturday put a damper on the 10th annual South Dakota High School Rodeo Finals held June 6-8, 1958 at New Underwood, S.D.
Bill Stearns of Edgemont and Suzanne Bartell of New Underwood were named the all-around contestants. Two-time state high school champion Bernard Cuny of Interior finished as the runner-up champion in the calf roping. In the barrel racing, Patsy Ann Annis of Cheyenne River Agency took second.
Harlan Gunville of Stephan Mission School placed third in the bareback riding followed by Willie Burnette of White River. Charles O’Rourke of Interior took third in the steer wrestling. Other Indian contestants included Jim Brunsch, Wayne “Bud” Evans, Bob High Eagle, and Russell Twiss.
