Elton Vine White ‘Mato Hoksila’




 

 

WANBLEE — Elton Vine White “Mato Hoksila”, 57, made his journey to the Spirit World on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at his home in Wanblee.

Elton Vine White was born on January 19, 1960 in Kadoka to Orlando “Randy” White Magpie and Inez (Two Elk) White.

Elton is survived by his wife, Leona Hopkins of Wanblee; son, Ferlin (Maria) Hopkins of Kyle – grandchildren, Samson, Isaiah and Ha’Ani, all of Kyle, daughter, Lisa White – granddaughters, Gracie and Liah, all of McLaughlin; sisters, Lavonne White of Wanblee and Wambli Sina Win of Muskogee, Okla.; brother, Lanceford White Magpie of Wanblee; uncle, Claude Two Elk of Rosebud; nephews, whom Elton helped raise, Jerome Mack – grandchildren, Deondre, Jade, Orlando, Sylvester and Dawn Black Hawk, and Asiah Brown, all of Wanblee, and Archie Mack – grandchildren, Wambli Ista Mack, Itancan Mahpiye Waci Mack and Canku Luta Akicita Waste Mack, all of Wheaton, Minn.; stepchildren, William Hopkins of Wanblee and Marie Lemon of Kyle; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Elton was preceded in death by his paternal/maternal grandparents, parents, Orlando “Randy” White Magpie and Inez (Two Elk) White; two siblings, Cheryl Higgins and Baby Boy DeSersa.

A two night wake service started on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Crazy Horse School in Wanblee. Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Crazy Horse School, with Gerald Bush officiating. Traditional Lakota services with Mr. Claude Two Elk. Burial service was at the Two Elk Family Cemetery in Wanblee.
