Everybody wants to be a Cowboy

Now that fans are experiencing football’s empty nest syndrome, there isn’t a reason to fear. There are plenty of waivers, additions, contract extensions and trades. “I want to be a Cowboy” was the theme this week as WR Antonio Brown is making a pitch to join the team. Cowboy’s fans may be feeling a little miffed however with the waiver of WR Amari Cooper.

Cooper was picked up by the Cowboys after being waived by the Raiders for salary cap reasons. Also waived from the Cowboys was Punter/Kicker Greg Zuerlein along with TE Blake Jarwin.  However, the Cowboys did retain and reward WR Michael Gallup with a $62.5 million deal. Making room for their salary cap are the Atlanta Falcons. QB Matt Ryan agreed to restructure his contract from $48.6 million to $37 million. This should leave space to acquire free agents to be more competitive in their division. Retaining key personnel is the receipt for success as the Buffalo Bills extend a two-year deal with WR Isiah McKenzie.

Hang on to what you have was the theme this week as the Minnesota Vikings as QB Kirk Cousins agrees to a one-year extension for $35 million dollars. After three years of service the Chicago Bears trade 31-year-old All- Pro LB Khalil Mack to the Los Angeles Chargers for a second and sixth round pick in 2022 and 2023.

In Arizona, the Cardinals are locking up TE Zach Ertz as he agrees to a 3-year deal. Ertz was a late edition last season from the Eagles.  Good news for prospective teams as Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson is cleared of any criminal charges. This will make an easier decision for teams that are seeking his services.  You can’t keep a good man down was the theme in Tampa Bay as the greatest of all time comes out of retirement for another season. Tom Brady has agreed to compete in his 23rd season. “It will be just too hard watching the game and not being in it,” stated Brady who feels he still has all the tools to succeed.

As the End Zone stated from Buccaneers Coach Bruce Arians last week, he left the door open for his return.  Speaking of returns, former Niners QB Colin Kaepernick is attempting a comeback to the league. Currently, he is calling on receivers like Seattle Seahawks WR Tyler Lockette to catch passes from him to keep in shape.

Movement in the Washington Commanders camp as they receive QB Carson Wentz from the Indianapolis Colts. Meanwhile extending the contract of Offensive Coordinator Scott Turner for a three-year extension.

Here comes the bride was the theme in Kansas City as Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes tied the knot with Brittney Matthews in Hawaii.

In a blockbuster move the Seattle Seahawks have traded All-Pro QB Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos. In return, the Seahawks will receive two first round picks for 2022 and 2023. In addition, the Seahawks will receive second round pick QB Drew Lock, TE Noah Fant who was a former first rounder and veteran DT Shelby Harris. “That is quite a steal for not having to pay a large salary to acquire him, noted the Captain. This immediately raises the Broncos to a playoff and quite possible a Super Bowl visit.

With its defense ranked at number two last season, a quarterback was the key missing element to place them over the top. Broncos hope that Wilson will repeat what Peyton Manning has done with his arrival.  Wilson will rejoin his old college teammate from Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon which will bring star power to the offense once again.

  1. Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is important and all. But imagine if you added some great pictures or video clips to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with pics and videos, this blog could undeniably be one of the best in its field. Excellent blog!
