George Leon Eagle Elk

ALLIANCE, NEB. – George Leon Eagle Elk, 38, made his journey to the Spirit World on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at his home in Alliance, Neb.

George Leon Eagle Elk was born on September 27, 1980 in Rosebud, SD to Ruben Stands and Charlotte (Eagle Elk) Lopez and was raised by his adoptive parents, Joseph and Victoria (Sitting Bear) Eagle Elk.

George is survived by his daughter, Dalaney Eagle Elk; sons, Dallas and Declan Eagle Elk, and their mother, Jamie Holloway, all of Bayard, Neb.; adoptive mother, Victoria Eagle Elk of Kyle; brothers, Percell Black Bull, Jesse, Sr., Christopher and Cheyenne Eagle Elk; sisters, Melinda Walking Eagle, Emily Harris and Diane Eagle Elk; nephews, Jesse “J.R.” Jr., Joey, Guy, & Stetson Eagle Elk and Darrell One Horn; nieces, Adelle “Wiyaka” Eagle Elk-Bordeaux, Nicole “Sister” Rodriguez, Tylene, Billie Jo, and Kacena One Horn; cousins, Pam, Clarissa, Bob, Michael and Georgine Eagle Elk; and numerous nieces, nephews, family & friends.

George was preceded in death by his adoptive father, Joseph Eagle Elk; sisters, Hilda and Corrina Eagle Elk; and nephew, Adrian Bordeaux.

Pallbearers were Danny Hudson, Byron Stone, Danny Beck, Lupe Garcia, Juan Garcia, Louis Young, Kevin Long and Tony Sanchez.

Honorary pallbearers were Deloris Little Bull & Family, Florence Mesteth & Family, Marjorie & Sadie South Wind & Family, Joe & Trudy Jones, Roy & Anna Roy, Sherly Kaboni & Family, Andrea Kills In Water & Family, Clayton & Linda Shirt, Deanna Sheridan, Kate Kraus, and All Friends & Relatives

A two night wake service started on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Hall in Kyle. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 15, 2019 at the Grass Mountain Community Center in Rosebud, with Father Ed Hunt and Mr. Duane Hollow Horn Bear officiating. Burial was at the Tatanka Paha-Eagle Elk Cemetery, Grass Mountain, near Rosebud.
