George Martin Yellow Horse, Sr.


 

 

OGLALA – George Martin Yellow Horse, Sr., 50, made his journey to the Spirit World on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City.

George Martin Yellow Horse, Sr., was born on May 22, 1968 in Pine Ridge to Ronald Yellow Horse and Yvonne White Magpie.

George is survived by his spouse, Ella Yellow Horse of Oglala; children, Destiny Yellow Horse of Colorado Springs, Colo. and George Yellow Horse, Jr. of Oglala; grandchildren, Amari Yellow Horse-Young of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Jeremy Yellow Horse of Oglala; brothers, Steven Yellow Horse, Rudy Standing Crow, and Corwin Standing Crow all of Oglala; and sisters, Simone Standing Crow, Agnes Standing Crow, and Annette Yellow Horse all of Oglala, and Eileen Standing Crow of Virginia.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald Yellow Horse and Yvonne White Magpie; grandson, Christian Yellow Horse-Young; brother, Matthew Standing Crow; and grandparents, George and Rose White Magpie.

A two night wake service started on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Re-Creation Center in Oglala, with Father Joe Daoust, S.J. and Sister Barb Bogenschutz officiating. Traditional Lakota services were with Mr. Greg Ross. Burial was at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery in Wounded Knee.
