WANBLEE – Hildreth Mary Milk 71, was born on November 15, 1949 in Wanblee, SD to Jasper Milk “Mni Owicakte” and Bernice (Fire Let Them Have Enough) Milk “Ti Waste Win”. HIldreth made her journey to the Spirit World on June 27, 2021 in Wanblee, SD.

Hildreth leaves to cherish her memories her daughters; Valerie Adams of Montgomery, Alabama, Vanessa Shangreaux of Mitchell, South Dakota and Vivian Lakota of Elk Grove, California; brothers, Duane (Cindy) Milk of Wanblee, SD, Orville Milk of Allen SD and Curtis Milk of Wanblee, SD; grandchildren, Robert “Eric” Adams, Arianna Adams, Aliya Herrald, Jevon Causey, Jasmine Adams, Rosetta Jackson; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Hildreth was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper Milk and Bernice (Fire Let Them Have Enough) Milk; brothers, Samuel Royce Milk Sr. and Irving George Milk; sister, Faith Milk; Paternal Grandparents, John Milk and Hattie Long Horn; Maternal Grandparents, John Fire Let Them Have Enough and Eunice (Charles Whistler) Crazy Bear; Paternal Great-Grandparents, Aaron Long Horn and Tribe Woman and Looks Up & Medicine Woman; Maternal Great-Grandparents, Jackson Crazy Bear and Mary Little Chief and Silas Fire & Sarah Eagle Blanket.

Hildreth graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services from the Oglala Lakota College in 1988. She served her community working for the Oglala Lakota College as a Tutor and a Records Technician, State of South Dakota Department of Social Services as a Social Worker, the Oglala Sioux Tribe as an Advocate Trainer and the Oglala Sioux Tribal Court as a Complaints Clerk. She was a fluent Lakota speaker, professional beadwork artist for over 40 years and owner of Asanpi-Fire Beadwork. Hildreth enjoyed her family, music, movies, reading, pow wows and traveling.

Pallbearers will be Wiconi Milk, Robert “Eric” Adams, Jevon Causey, Merle Layton, Jr., Colin Wilcox, Antwaan Cottier, DeAndre Cottier, and Chuckie Cottier.

Wake Services: Two night wake service starting at 3:00 PM, Saturday, July 3, 2021 at the Kennedy Hall in Wanblee, SD.

Funeral Services: 11:00 AM, Monday, July 5, 2021 at the Kennedy Hall in Wanblee, SD
