OGLALA — Hope Madonna (Stands) Tirado, “Cante’ Ohitika Win”, 50, made her journey to the Spirit World on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Regional Health Home plus Hospice in Rapid City.

Hope Madonna (Stands) Tirado, “Cante’ Ohitika Win” was born on May 4, 1967 in Pine Ridge to Homer Paul Stands Sr. and Helen (Long Warrior) Stands.

Hope is survived by children, John Sitting Holy Jr. of Box Elder, Cinnamon Flying Hawk of Sioux City, Iowa; Roberto Jaquez, Alicia Munoz, and Pedro Munoz all of Pine Ridge; siblings, Loretta Zimiga/Stands of Vermillion, Fred Stands of Oglala; Hazel Maria Stands of Rapid City; Happy Stands of Oglala, Henrietta Nelson-Stands and Hubert Stands both of Oklahoma, and Victoria Stands of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Wanipila Sitting Holy, Magaju Sitting Holy, Gabriel Rodriguez, Isaiah Rodriguez, Miguel Tapia, and Storm Grimaldo.

Hope was preceded in death by her parents, Homer Sr. and Helen Stands; siblings, Jerry Stands, James Stands, Harriett Stands, Hank Stands, Homer Stands II, Lyle Stands, and Harvey Stands; and cousin, Harry Stands II.

Visitation and Rosary services were both held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Rapid City. Funeral services were held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, with Father Ed Witt, S.J. officiating. Burial services were held at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis.
