Lakota Voice Project hosts holiday party for youth suicide survivors on Pine Ridge



RAPID CITY –– The Lakota Voice Project will lend a hand this holiday season and help at-risk youth and suicide survivors have a holiday party to remember on the Pine Ridge Reservation. On Friday, Dec. 23, seventeen teenagers and one four year old will be provided with gifts and a warm meal.

“These kids need things to make their bodies feel good. They are dealing with some pretty tough living conditions and I want to make sure each young person gets something nice for Christmas,” said Yvonne “Tiny” DeCory, founder of the Bear Program, a Pine Ridge suicide prevention group.

Donations are currently being accepted to help make this event happen. The following items are suggestions, though all gifts, including cash and check donations, are welcome. Please make checks payable to Lakota Voice Project.

• Axe Bodywash
• Cologne and perfume
gift boxes
• Face cleanser
• Make-up gift boxes
• Hair products
• Earbuds
• Thick socks
• Scarves
• Gift cards, such as
iTunes or Visa
