WOUNDED KNEE — Lorraine Beatrice Fast Horse, 65, made her journey to the Spirit World on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at th Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City.
Lorraine Beatrice Fast Horse was born on December 21, 1951 in Gordon, Neb. to Wilbur Fast Horse Sr. and Beulah (Rock) Fast Horse.
Lorraine is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth Gibbons of Wounded Knee and Audrey Fast Horse of Los Angeles, Calif.; brother, Myron Fast Horse of Pine Town, N.C.; children, Phyllis Lucero of Los Angeles, Calif., Thomas (Violet) Lucero of Wounded Knee, SD, and Albert Lucero of Denver; hunka sisters, Beverly Running Bear of Rapid City, Phyllis Shott of Sharps Corner, and Phyllis “Sissy” Little Moon of Wounded Knee; nieces and nephews, Carmelita Gibbons, Gabriel Gibbons, Joyce Fast Horse, and Joe Fast Horse all of Wounded Knee, Nicholas Gibbons of Chadron, Neb., Duane Gibbons of Rapid City, and Mike Fast Horse of Bismarck, N.D.; companion, Matthew Bear Eagle of Wounded Knee, 19 Grandchildren, and 15 Great- Grandchildren.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur Sr. and Beulah (Rock) Fast Horse; siblings, Wilbur Fast Horse Jr., Rufus Fast Horse, Timothy Fast Horse, Althea Fast Horse, Terry Michael Fast Horse, Thomas Fast Horse, Dale Sheppard, Rufus Sheppard, and Dwayne Fast Horse; children, Alex Janis and Baby Bear Eagle; grandparents, Cecelia Lamont, John Lamont, Florence Lone Hill, and John Rock; and one infant grandchild.
A one night wake service started on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Porcupine School Gym in Porcupine. Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Porcupine School Gym, with Father Chris Johnson, S.J. and Father Edmund Yainao officiating. Traditional Lakota services were held with Mr. Gerald Ice. Burial services were at the Fast Horse Creek Cemetery in Wounded Knee.
