Mavis Pearl (Fast Horse) Lamont ‘Pte Glasota Win’



WOUNDED KNEE – Mavis Pearl (Fast Horse) Lamont “Pte Glasota Win,” 74, made her journey to the Spirit World on Sunday, January 15, 2017, in Martin.

Mavis Pearl (Fast Horse) Lamont was born on June 24, 1942, in Fort Yates, N.D. to Joseph Fast Horse and Elizabeth Quick Bear. Mavis is survived by her spouse, Robert Lamont, of Wounded Knee; sons, Reuben Fast Horse of Rapid City, Carlos Picotte of Fort Yates, N.D. and Joseph (Marion Red Cloud) Picotte Jr. of Oglala; daughter, Lisa (Chuck Richards) Picotte of Rapid City; nephew, Jerry Goodhouse of McLaughlin; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Fast Horse and Elizabeth Quick Bear; brothers, Paul, John and Wayne Fast Horse; sister, Jean Marie (Fast Horse) Larson; niece, Leah Larson; and granddaughter, Nadia Sunshine Picotte.

A one night wake service was held Jan. 20, at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala. Funeral services were held Jan. 21, at the Brother Rene Hall, with Father Joe Doust, S.J. and Sister Barb officiating. Burial services were held Jan. 21, at the Lakota Freedom Veteran’s Cemetery in Kyle.
