KYLE – Michael John Ghost Bear, 44, made his journey to the Spirit World on Saturday, February 23, 2019 in Pine Ridge.
Michael John Ghost Bear was born on August 6, 1974 in Pine Ridge, to Averil (Ghost Bear) Marshall and Robert Hernandez, Sr.
Michael is survived by his mother, Averil Marshall of No Flesh-Kyle; aunts, Matilda Montileaux of No Flesh-Kyle; cousins, Bert Montileaux, Sr. of Rapid City, Hawkeye Montileaux of Kyle, Sundown Montileaux of Wanblee, Belva Montileaux of Sioux City, Iowa, Gladys Montileaux of Phoenix, Ariz., Marcus Charging Crow of Wanblee, Mikayla and Serena Ghost Bear both of Allen; grandparents, Georgianna Little Bull-Lopez of Rapid City, Cleon Blue Bird of Hot Springs, and Howard Blue Bird of Mission Flat- Pine Ridge; and uncle Roy Dean Martinez of Kyle.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hernandez, Sr.; paternal grandmother, Dora Hernandez; maternal grandparents, George Ghost Bear, Sr., and Sarah Little Bull; great grandparents, David Little Bull and Jettie Imitates Dog-Little Bull; uncles, Robert Ghost Bear and Myron Ghost Bear; aunt, Gladys Ghost Bear; and numerous aunts, uncles, and grandparents.
Pallbearers were Gerald “Jerry” Two Crow, Ruben Featherman, Bryan Hopkins, Bailey One Horn, Sam One Horn, and Donald Bear Runner, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Jay Lefthand, Wally Lefthand, Elgin Head, CHR’s-Bryan Hopkins and Mike Moves Camp, Little Wound Class of 1993, and All Friends & Relatives.
A two night wake service started on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle. Funeral services were held on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle, with Lay Reader Mona Vocu officiating. Burial was at the Inestimable Gift Episcopal Cemetery in Allen.
