Nine-man and 11-B playoffs underway

RAPID CITY— At this point, every reservation based team has been eliminated from football playoff contention except Todd County at 11-A. Border town teams with a lot of Lakota ballplayers are still in contention: Mobridge-Pollock in 11-B; Colome in 9-B, and Timber Lake in 9-A. Lots of other teams have at least one Lakota ballplayer on the roster.

Last Thursday, 9-B, 9-A, 9-AA and 11-B all got their post season underway. There were no surprises at 9-B. Getting underway on Thursday, October 25, are the 11-A, 11-AA, and 11- AAA playoffs. Tea Area, at 8-1, looks to be the class of the field, although the other 8-1 team, Madison, who lost earlier this season to 11-B Canton, beat Tea Area, 10-7, a couple weeks ago. So, clear as mud who will win the 11-A division. At 7-2, Pierre tops a weak 11-A field, and SF O’Gorman is top rated at 11-AAA, but their one loss was last week, they were easily beaten, 40-15, by 7-2 Brandon Valley, and BV looks like the hottest team right now.
