FORT YATES, N.D. – Paul Yellow Hammer Jr., 85, made his journey to the Spirit World on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at his home in Fort Yates, N.D.
Paul Yellow Hammer, Sr. was raised in Fort, Yates, N.D., the son of Teresa Yellow Hammer (Iron Necklace) of Wakpala, South Dakota and Paul Yellow Hammer of Cannonball, N.D.
Paul graduated from Fort Yates High School in 1954. He was last surviving male member of his graduating class. Paul retired from the BIA Maintenance Department after being employed there for 33 years.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents Teresa and Paul Yellow Hammer, brothers Lang Yellow Hammer, Burt Yellow Hammer, sisters Westerman, Alice Red Elk, Bonnie Tiger, Mavis Morin, 2 daughters KayeAnne McDonald and Linda Yellow Hammer.
Paul is survived by his brother Walter (Joyce) Yellow Hammer of Brooklyn Center, MN, sister Arbutus Fast Horse of Bismarck, ND, sister Colleen Ross of Dallas, TX, he is also survived by his children Paul Yellow Hammer, Jr., Wendell Yellow Hammer, Michele McDonald, Beverly McQuire, and Crystal Evans. Paul also leaves by his Grandchildren, Great- Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and many other relatives.
Honorary Casket Bearers: He had many friends he was close to, all of whom he loved and treasured, too many to mention, BIA office and workers, Madonna Red Bear, ee will all mis Paul very much and will honor his memory.
Funeral services were held at the Oster Funeral Home of Mobridge.
