NFL fans have long awaited the end of training camp as the beginning of preseason has begun. It is a time when the coaching staff get a fair evaluation of their draft talent. However, most starters across the league will sit out. Extremely high temperatures around the nation have been a cause for concern. Many fights broke out in training camps as well. Forty Niners Coach Kyle Shanahan became concerned as fights broke out in his practices.
“A line had to be drawn when players throw punches,” stated Shanahan.
Injuries, mostly ACL tears, are already arising as Broncos starter WR Tim Patrick was carted off the field with an ACL tear. It was a scary moment as teammates gathered around in uncertainty as he is out for the season. Patrick had recently signed a contract extension last season.
Speaking of ACL tears, New York Giants rookie OL Marcus McKethan also has a season-ending injury. Family Fun Night in Green Bay was not such fun for Packers Safety Darrelle Savage. Savage, a 2019 first rounder, pulled a hamstring in his right leg and is expected to miss some playing time.
More trouble in Browns camp as RB Kareem Hunt is requesting to be traded missing team drills. Browns management and coaching have dismissed the matter and will not grant a trade. Hunt is entering the last year of a two-year $12 million dollar deal. Not only Hall of Fame Inductions but a Hall of Fame Game as well.
It was a homecoming in Canton, Ohio for Raiders Head Coach Josh McDaniels who grew up in Canton. A game that was played on the very gridiron he played on, McKinley Field. His team did not disappoint his homecoming, defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars, 27-11, in a dominating performance. Mainly, the rushing of RB Josh Jacobs and Zamir White who combined for 89 yards keeping the Jaguars off-balanced. Raiders QB Kyle Sloter looked solid tossing for 127 yards and one score in the game winner.
