ALLEN – Robin Lee Whirlwind Horse, 45, began his journey to the Spirit World on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the Bennett County Hospital in Martin.
Robin Lee Whirlwind Horse was born on April 19, 1973 in Sidney, Neb. to Arveal and Loretta (Scout) Whirlwind Horse.
Robin attended school at the American Horse Day School and graduated high school in 1991 at Little Wound High School in Kyle. After high school, Robin worked at Cedar Pass, American Horse School, Bennett County Nursing Home, he was a Public Safety Officer for the Oglala Sioux Tribe, a Security Officer for East Wind Casino, he was also an Unexploded Ordinance Technician with the Badlands Bombing Range and Native American Environmental.
Robin is survived by his siblings, Warren & Monte Yellow Hair, and Lori Whirlwind Horse all of Allen, Corey Whirlwind Horse, Tammy Whirlwind Horse, and Loretta “La” Whirlwind Horse all of Rapid City; Julie (Perry) Thunder Hawk of Martin, and Ann (Roger) Campbell of Wichita, Kan.; children, Dally Whirlwind Horse, Tristan Whirlwind Horse, and Robyn Whirlwind Horse all of Martin, Kiana Whirlwind Horse of Rapid City, Dante Witt, Kamilla Sioux Calf, and Kerron Sioux Calf all of Martin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Robin was preceded in death by his parents, Loretta and Arveal; siblings, Jim Yellow Hair, Patty Sitting Bear and Loren Whirlwind Horse; aunts, Darlene Cross, Clara Poor Bear- Garcia, Angie Reyes, and Rochelle Lone Wolf; uncle, Wayne Whirlwind Horse; and cousin, Bobbi Kaye Hacker.
A two night wake service for Robin started on Thursday September 6, 2018 at the Youth Center in Allen. Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Youth Center in Allen, with Pastor Tim Wardell officiating. Traditional Lakota services were held with Mr. James Cross. Burial was at the Salway Family Cemetery in Allen.
