South Dakota Community Foundation provides support for Thunder Valley’s Youth Leadership Development

PIERRE –The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) presented an $8,000 South Dakota Fund grant to the Thunder Valley Community Development Corporation (TVCDC). Funds will provide partial support for their Youth Leadership Development Initiative.

“The funding from the South Dakota Community Foundation will be an investment into the young leaders in the community, said Liz Welch, Director of Advancement, Thunder Valley Community Development Corporation. Our Youth Leadership Initiative works to mentor and build leadership skills among youth.”

The Youth Leadership Development Initiative will increase social connectedness and youth empowerment through the development of a year-round program that improves community/cultural connection, promotes leadership development, strengthens education support and work readiness for youth ages 11 – 18, while providing mentorship.

“The South Dakota Community Foundation is proud to partner with Thunder Valley Community Development Corporation as they work to develop youth leadership on the Pine Ridge Reservation”, said Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “Their investment in today’s youth will pay off in the future as they take the helm and guide future development.”
