Tawni Jade Wilcox




 

 

WANBLEE – Tawni Jade Wilcox, 30, made her journey to the Spirit World on Saturday, May 27, 2017, near Wanblee.

Tawni Jade Wilcox was born on March 2, 1987 in Pine Ridge to Denice Marie Standing Bear and Calvin Dean Wilcox.

Tawni followed in the footsteps of her grandma June and became a cook at Crazy Horse School, a job that she deeply loved. She also loved sports, basketball was her favorite, and she was also the assistant girls basketball coach for Crazy Horse School.

Tawni is survived by her father, Calvin Dean Wilcox of Martin; mother, Denice Marie Standing Bear of Wanblee; step-father, Jon Siedschlaw of Wanblee; son, Rylan Cummings of Wanblee; grandparents, Theresa (Jerome) High Horse of Wanblee; great grandmother, Eleanor Charging Crow of Wanblee; brother, Jace Standing Bear of Martin; sisters, Talisa Wilcox of Allen, Tiaunna Wilcox of Wanblee and Callyn Wilcox of Martin; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended relatives (to many to name) that she loved and adored.

Tawni was preceded in death by her brothers, Ashton Standing Bear and Matthew Standing Bear; daughters, Jaceya Cummings, Micah Cummings, and one unborn daughter; uncle, Alvin David Wilcox; grandparents, Curtis & Myrtle Wilcox and Stanley Standing Bear; and great grandparents, James Charging Crow Sr., Emma Jane Baker, Felix Huber, Evelyn Rooks- Pourier, and Howard Wilcox, Sr.

Two night wake services were held June 3 and 4 at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee. Funeral services were held June 5 at the Crazy Horse School, with Father Peter Klink, S.J., Sister Connie Schmidt, and Deacon Cal Clifford officiating. Burial services were held at the Martin Community Cemetery in Martin.
