The End Zone: Condoleeza Rice joins Broncos ownership

Well NFL fans we are only a couple of weeks from the Hall of Fame Game between the Las Vegas Raiders versus the Jacksonville Jaguars. Speaking of the Hall of Fame, several player exhibits were opened for public viewing. Lockers of the Hall of Fame Class of ’22 included Tony Boselli, Cliff Branch, Leroy Butler, Art Mcnally and Sam Mills. In Houston, the Texans settled on the remaining thirty allegations of sexual harassment against former QB Deshaun Watson. One of the thirty women has filed a civil suit as well for the organization enabling Watson’s behavior.

It is about this time of the season in which older players decide to continue or not. One such player was Raiders OT Richie Incognito. Incognito is where he will be as he decided to hang up his cleats. “No turning back,” stated Incognito.”

Another retirement was announced as four-time All Pro OT Mitchell Schwartz retired as well. Ex-Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant had allegedly ordered a $1.1 million dollar welfare payment to Brett Farve for speaking engagements. A defendant in the case Nancy New and her son testified they were ordered to make the payment to Farve. Bryant denies the allegations thus far and Brett Farve has paid back the money after realizing it was a welfare payment.

“Will he or won’t he” was the theme this week as Washington Commanders Owner Dan Synder’s attorney stated in a letter to the House of Oversight Committee. Synder stated he will not testify under a subpoena. It was suggested to have US Marshalls do not have the authority to serve a Congressional Subpoena internationally overseas.

We now have some answers on the death of former Cowboys and Bears RB Marion Barber. Barber, a former Minnesota Golden Gopher, was found dead in his home at 38, due to heat stroke. He started in the league in 2005 and spent six seasons with the Cowboys.

Denver Broncos ownership receives an additional member, former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice. Rice, who grew up in Denver, graduated from the University of Denver with a Bachelor’s Degree. “I have spent some of my younger years in Denver, so I will be able to combine my love for the game with my love for this great city,” stated Rice. Rice additionally stated, “Football has been an integral part of my life since the moment it was introduced to me.” Rice will join Walmart heir Rob Walton as a part as the ownership team.

Free Agent Tackle Duane Brown was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon at Los Angeles International Airport. Brown, a five-time Pro Bowler, posted a $10,000 bond and was released. As far as the concealed weapon, it was unloaded in his luggage found by airport security. It also carries a misdemeanor charge as well. Brown is due in court on August 4, relating to the matter. In Florida, Cleveland Browns DT Malik McDowell was also arrested for aggravated assault on a Florida police officer According to the police report McDowell beat the deputy in a violent attack leaving the deputy dazed and fearing permanent eye damage. McDowell is currently being held on a $27,000 bond.
