RAPID CITY –– The Oyate Today television show produced by Tim and Jackie Giago and hosted by Charise Abernathy, Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and Jeremy Vu, Oglala Lakota, aired for the first time on June 3.
“We weren’t able to do a good publicity buildup for the first show because of several factors. First of all uncertainty about the time slot and the illness of host Charise sort of had us on pins and needles until we finally got the go-ahead from KEVN and then we charged forward full speed ahead,” Producer Tim Giago said.
“Our second show will air on June 10 and it features a really great interview with Bruce Long Fox and is a show that all Native Americans should watch. Bruce is very candid about the hard times he had as a child and what it took to turn his life around and what caused him to become a productive human being,” Giago said.
The show will air for 13 consecutive weeks on KEVN at 10 p.m. after the evening news. Watch for some of the exciting and interesting guests set to appear in the upcoming shows. “This is a show for Native Americans to take pride in their achievers and for non-Natives to get an education about what we are all about,” Giago said.
Giago suggested that if the viewers have guests they would like to see on the show to contact Charise Abernathy at 605-721-1266.
