This photo was taken in the early 1900s at Three-Mile-Creek at the Giago allotment on the Pine Ridge Reservation near Kyle. The girl on the left is
Lucy Giago (she later married
Tom Vocu) and the girl seated holding the handmade doll is
Annie Giago. She married
Earl Ferguson. The lady on the right is the mother of
Tim Giago Sr., Lucy, Annie, Grace Giago Garnett, and
Joe Giago. She is newspaper publisher
Tim Giago’s grandmother. Her name is
Sophie Giago and she is the matriarch of the Giago family. Notice the beautiful quillwork on the dresses of the ladies.
