Wahacanka Paul Shields-Peltier




 

 

OGLALA – Wahacanka Paul Shields-Peltier, 41, made his journey to the Spirit World on Dec.9, in Arlington, Va.

Wahacanka Paul Shields was born on May 1, 1975 in Pine Ridge to Leonard Peltier and Audrey Shields.

Wahacanka is survived by his father, Leonard Peltier of Coleman, Fla.; mother, Audrey Shields of Lawrence, Kan.; spouse, Emily Two Lance of Oglala; sons, Michael Murray of Parmeleeand Daunte Jealous of Porcupine; daughters, Gabrianna Murray of Parmelee; Kobe Two Lance, Kadeen Peltier, and Kaleigha Peltier all of Oglala; brother, Chauncey Peltier of Portland, Ore.; sisters, Marquetta Shields-Peltier, Monique White Bear Claws, and Rebecca Shields all of Lawrence, Kan., Kathy Peltier of Los Angeles, Calif., and Lisa Peltier of N.D.; granddaughter, Roselynn Bear Robe of Parmelee; special aunt, Agnes Little Hawk of Pine Ridge; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Wahacanka was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leo Peltier, Alvina Showers, and Hazel (Shields) Little Hawk; aunts, Eleanor Red Cloud and Lillian Sharpfish; and uncle, Sylvan Little Hawk.

A one night wake service was held Dec. 16, at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala. Funeral Services were held Dec. 17, at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala with Apostle Pedro Sharpfish officiating. Traditional Lakota Services held by Mr. Ivis Long Visitor. Burial Services were held at the Body of Christ Cemetery in Pine Ridge.
