WANBLEE – Waylon Dean Red Elk Jr., 1, made his journey to the Spirit World on Saturday, November 4, 2017.
Waylon Dean Red Elk Jr. was born on October 4, 2016 to Jaylene D. Pretends Eagle and Waylon D. Red Elk Sr. Baby Waylon was welcomed into the world happily by his father as his first born son.
Baby Waylon loved to play with his hand drum and his baby chainsaw. This year for Halloween he was a firefighter and wanted to be just like dad. They enjoyed watching Duck Dynasty and playing with his big brothers, Jeriah, Buddy, Heath, Hoksila, and Darian.
He is survived by big brothers’ Jeriah Clairmont of Corn Creek, Buddy Clairmont of Corn Creek, Heath Pretends Eagle-Red Owl of Wanblee, Hoksila Luta Pretends Eagle of Wanblee and Darian Abbey of Bismarck, N.D. Maternal Grandmother Phylis Wilcox of Wanblee, and Maternal Grandfather Howard Pretends Eagle of Mobridge. Paternal Grandmother Annie Red Elk of Wanblee, numerous cousins, aunties and uncles of the Pretends Eagle and Red Elk families.
He was preceded in death by his mother Jaylene D. Pretends Eagle and Waylon D. Red Elk Sr., Dallas Dean Red Elk and Paternal Grandfather Roger Red Elk Sr.
A two night wake service started on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Crazy Horse School in Wanblee, with Episcopal Mass on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the School Gym in Wanblee. Funeral services were held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Crazy Horse School, with Fr. Ed Hunt officiating. Burial service was at the Gethsemane Episcopal Cemetery in Wanblee.
