KYLE – Wilson Charles Gay, Jr., 69, began his journey to the Spirit World on Saturday, August 29, 2018 at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.
Wilson Charles Gay, Jr., “Wahinkpe Ska” was born on May 18, 1949 at home in Kyle to Wilson, Sr. and Gladys (Thunder Hawk) Gay.
Wilson is survived by his wife, Evelyn Gay of Kyle; mother, Gladys Gay of Kyle; step-daughter, Anita Gay of Kyle, siblings, Agnes Gay, Iris Gay, Anthony Gay, and Mary Ann Gay all of Kyle, and Deborah Gay- Islam of Pasadena, Calif.; grandchildren, Frankee Rose Means, Frank Louis Means II, Scott White Eyes, and Laila Soap; aunts, Bernadette Thunder Hawk, Vincentia Thunder Hawk, and Genevieve Richard all of Porcupine; uncle, Francis “Chubbs” Thunder Hawk of Porcupine, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Wilson was preceded in death by his father, Wilson Gay, Sr.; and grandparents, William and Nancy (Cloud Horse) Gay and Charles and Susan (Jealous of Him) Thunder Hawk.
A two night wake service started on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the Elderly Meals Building in Porcupine and second night at the Father Pauly Hall in Porcupine. Funeral services were held on Friday September 6, 2018 at the Father Pauly Hall in Porcupine, with Father Edmund Yainao, S.J. and Mr. Bill White officiating. Traditional Lakota services were with MR. Francis “Chubbs” Thunder Hawk. Burial was at Christ the Kind Catholic Cemetery in Porcupine.
