State Tournament: Red Cloud Girls finish in style, Lakota Tech finishes with close loss

For the tournament, Red Cloud put together a great effort, in all three contests they held. Against Wagner, if not for a furious comeback, the Lady ‘Saders might have gone 3-0.

In the last game of the tournament, Red Cloud would play for the Consolation title, 5th place overall and were matched up against Dakota Valley and were ready to play. To give an example on how well they were playing, Red Cloud finished each period, and were never trailing. At the half, they only had allowed 20 points, while scoring 37. And Stevi Fallis, who scored 24, hit 3 three pointers and 5 free throws, was awarded the Spirit of Su award, at halftime.

Red Cloud’s entire team, did well, as Sharissa Haas would pick up 12 points, go 4 for 4 at the line and was a crisp 50 percent from the field for the tournament. Jordan Derby, scoring 8 points would go 4 for 6 with 6 rebounds and 2 blocks, and Alison Richards would have 7 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal on the day. Maikole Carlow, would contribute 5 points with a 3, 2 rebounds and an assist.

For Lakota Tech, the team kept the Sioux Falls Christian team close, and was actually led through 3 periods, up by 4. The team worked well, spreading out the scoring, with Shayla Bravo leading the club with 16 points, 14 from Tobi Carlow and 7 from Moriah Morisette. The team would falter in the 4th, and lose by 4, 58-62.

White River, drawing a contest against Wall, started out slow, but managed to pull it all together in the end, with a strong second half, winning 54-52. Maleighya Estes, finished her tournament with a 27 point performance, had 5 rebounds, while Rhea Tucker had 6 rebounds and 2 points for the Lady Tigers. The White River team finished in 7th place, going 1-2.
